Summer storms

Snapped with my iPhone 6s – more tips on how to take photos of lightning here.

Growing up in Australia, all my memories of summer end in epic storms. I adore lightning and have always been a storm watcher.

I’ve been fascinated with photographing lightning since I was little. I remember my Grandma standing patiently with me out in the garden as I tried to take photos with my film camera! They were not very successful but lately I’ve caught some great storms on my iPhone from our balcony.

We’re so lucky to have this view and I can’t wait for more summer storms. I think I can hear some thunder already tonight.

Seen on my walk

Balmain Balmain

Seen on my morning walk this weekend.

Ever since my friend Carly told me I was going to die from inactivity, I’ve been trying to do more than 10k steps a day.

The perks and perils of working from home mean I don’t have to travel far but the lack of steps will kill me sooner (apparently). It has also created a new obsession with podcasts.

Borneo

Borneo Beaches

Our visit to Borneo this year was full of surprises.

I like to research a destination before we travel but on this trip I allowed space for surprises. We were there for work and our itinerary was quite comprehensive so I left the rest to see what would be.

It was an incredible trip and we loved (almost) every minute. The space for surprise is something that I’m keeping back in my day-to-day life.

Stay curious, but you don’t need to know to the answers to every question.

Lightning strikes

lightning over Sydney from Balmain

I was struck by lightning.

It’s true.

We were lucky.

I love lightning and I look for the lightning strikes in my thoughts every day. Those ideas that come from nowhere, and those ideas that slowly build until you can see them through the flashes. Sometimes you need to be patient until that bolt is clear enough to see through the clouds.
